Speech Progress

Speech Progress      Hello, this is Camila Sanchez and welcome to my first blog.       Stage fright is one of the most common symptoms I had and still do have (sometimes) when I present in front of a whole class or anywhere where there is a large crowd. But, once I get the hang of it, speeches will come as counting from one to a hundred! This blog will hit points concerning how last week's presentations helped me learn how to become a better speaker and a few of my interests within the presentations my classmates in Introduction to Public Speaking (SPC 2608-5988) with Professor Sherri Sinkoff.       When Group 1 presented, they began with what the worst-case scenario is when presenting which is quite literally "What could go wrong?" It is funny to relate it to that but in reality, people have a tough time when presenting and could possibly see it as an impossible thing to do. So, those people might start to get sweaty, jittery, anxi...

Hello blog, this is my opinions on all of the presentations and information that I learned, this project was very insightful, it forced me out of my comfort zone and was also very scary, right before presenting my palms were so sweaty and I was so nervous to present I’ve never liked presenting and honestly, I always found a way to get out of presenting, but presenting is a useful life skill that I have to learn. using pictures and few words really had me feeling unprepared and I’ve always been used to just reading off of my slide so that was very nerve racking but my notes helped so much, I divided everything I was going to say for each slide just in case my mind went blank If it weren’t for the note’s app, I wouldn’t have felt secure to present, I’ve always been a bad and nervous presenter but this time it wasn’t bad at all. My group was number one, and my part was on the common types of first presentations and I learned how to present myself, and others, I also learned about de...

Hey Guys, I want to start of my first blog by telling you a little bit about what it was like doing my first group project this semester on Public Speaking. Let me tell you starting this semester with a presentation was an extreme way to become comfortable in this class but I am thankful for the uncomfortable situation.  I am not one to come out of my shell so easily but when my grade is on the line I will, I enjoyed the fact that our first presentation was based on HOW to present. So, if you think about it, we got a free guide to an easy A. The way this worked was we were assigned chapters were from 1-4 with a total of 10 participants while being split into groups. There was group 1-4 I believe and each person had to create a PowerPoint slide that portrayed your piece of information. Personally, I enjoyed my group for the sole reasoning that everyone was very determined and on task since the very first day, no one was scared to speak up and ask questions and we were and are still ...

May 22, 2023 Emily Zapata  Prof. Sherri Sinkoff SPC 2608 First Presentation This is my first presentation in this class and I was a little nervous about it. I was born here in Miami, but I grew up in Peru, so sometimes I get insecure with my pronunciation or my accent. For me speaking it's hard because there are a lot of people who judge me or can be mean in certain scenarios. I feel this class it's going to help me be more confident about speaking not only in presentations but in daily conversations. Presentations are always kind of scary because a lot of people get nervous and can have a little anxiety about it. I get nervous at the beginning of my presentation, but then I like to go with the flow and I feel able to express myself. I feel that a public speaking class's first presentation can be exciting as well as terrifying. It's a chance to show off your communication abilities, improve your self-confidence, and receive guidance and feedback from others. We can use ...

Hello everyone! I hope that everyone enjoyed last week presentation! I was afraid of presenting I had a stomachache and butterflies in my tummy. Nonetheless I enjoyed sharing the knowledge with all my classmates. I lost my fear and all my nervousness. Everyone did a great job at presenting, and I loved the conference of everyone especially my group! we did GREAT! and I am not saying that because it was my group, but we overall we did good. Thus, apart from my stomachaches and butterflies I had a great time. I liked this project because I learned a lot about coping with public speaking and not being afraid if you just be yourself, you will do good. Public speaking can be nerve recking but if you can just prepare yourself mentally and physically you will not be afraid. With this project I learned a plethora of things on how to cope with the anxiety of speaking in front of an audience, how to not be afraid of just being you and not Sutter, believe it o...

Hello! This given blog post will unravel my feelings about the class presentation that happened a week ago. As someone who has faced my fair share of presentation jitters, stumbling through awkward slides and stumbling over my words, I can confidently say that the presentations that were given in this class by the students had been amazing. In this blog post, I will share my personal experience and highlight the valuable insights and practical tips that have helped me become a more confident and effective presenter. Whether you're a novice or an experienced speaker looking to enhance your skills, this article offers a wealth of guidance to help you deliver compelling and impactful presentations. From the moment the first group started sharing the tips on how to prepare the presentation, I was struck by their ability to provide clear and concise guidance. The first part breaks down the presentation process into manageable steps, like choosing the appropriate topic, or analyzing t...

Daleah Batista  Blog 1      I enjoyed the first presentation of the class which was based on chapters 1-12 of the book I speak. For me, the presentation was a unique form of learning material. Instead of reading the complete twelve chapters all by ourselves and getting bored and frustrated by extensive paragraphs full of words that we might not even think are English, we divided all of the work and each member of the class provided their little grain of sand and together we made a beach. In a usual online class, various students lose interest and prefer to pay attention to the phone rather than the same person for hours in this scenario the teacher. These presentations force us to be active, to be confident, to be out of our comfort zone. By making the students explain the topics in their own words the teacher not only made me pay more attention but I understood better the chapters with the examples that my classmates were given. I feel like on this presentatio...
